replica are extremely important here The print resulting from an original digital file eliminates the most frequent source of error in fine art printing: the transfer from an oil or watercolor based original to the digital printer's file. That process
requires scanning, color correction and transfer to a digital file, each step a source of possible deviation from the original.
Why Giclée?
Giclée printers were invented for fine art printing. They are ink jet printers using pigmented inks and employing from 6-16 nozzles spraying in a randomly generated pattern. This prevents color buildup and banding.
